STOP 0x00000051 when installing

I corrupted my registry a while ago and Windows will not
start. When using the Win XP Pro setup disc, installing
the Recovery Console and clean installations both give
STOP 0x00000051 errors (right after choosing the OS
partition in the Recovery Console and right after
accepting the license agreement in clean installs). It
seems that I have no way to restore my computer. Does
anyone know any possible ways to get around the errors
and get my system working again?
