Repairs/Reinstalls fail

I screwed up the registry on my home-built computer while
trying to fix a shutdown problem and it will not start
up. The Repair feature on the WinXP Pro disc returns a
STOP 0x00000051 blue screen immediately after choosing
the operating system, and the setup returns the same
screen after accepting the license agreement. I'm stumped
as to how I can get past these errors, any help?

Hi Phoenix,

I just dealt with that error on my own system late last night after getting
home from a hard evening at work. Only difference was, when I went to try a
repair install, I received a C000021a error.

Anyhow, though neither the STOP 0x00000051 or C000021a error is mentioned in
this MSKB article, it's what I used to get my system back up and running
again:
