That's key doesn't exist on my work machine. I'll verify that it's
set at home. If so, then I'll assume I have found the problem and
learn to live with it. (I don't think this is worth trying to
persuade the PC people to update my registry).

It doesn't exist on my home machine either.

OH, the common tasks stuff. I don't use that fluff. I turn OFF all the
"eye candy" and cutesy stuff and run Classic views. Shortcut's to
folders go in the Quick Launch bar. You may be able to get it into the
"OP section" with a registry hack. But I suspect you shouldn't do that
