SUsing Win XP sp2 and when I click on the Start>the start menu appears in
which it has the Windows Live Messenger as well as Windows Messenger. My
question is how can I get rid of these 2 programs and wish to re-install the
Windows Live Messenger? I cannot see any of these 2 programs in Add/Remove
and at the same time I have at msconfig>check Selective Startup>startup tag
and uncheck all items, but these 2 programs still appears ithe startup menu.
Hope you can assist as I am having difficult in signning into WLMessenger.
Thanks

You could click Start, right click the offending program and choose to
delete it, but that does not delete the program, just the shortcut
from the Start menu. The program is still installed and maybe that is
okay for you.

These are not like "regular" programs, they are Windows Components, so
don't show up in Add/Remove programs until you choose to display Add/
Remove Windows Components, (wait a while for the list to populate) -
uncheck the box(es), Next, Finish, Restart.

You can add them back later by reversing the steps.

Start with that.
