lots of times I leave my desk. first screensaver goes to work.after that the machine goes into standby. when I try to wake it up again you can't do it. I have to shutdown and reboot. I bought xp media computer in October and it never worked right

Open your Device Manager, right-click on your mouse and
select Properties. Click on the Power Management tab and
check "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby".

You can do the same for your keyboard and USB devices.
