Standby Patch

I have XP Pro and the standby command stopped working so I went to Windows Update and downloaded the patch Q306676 to fix it. When I installed it the computer told me that because I had installed service pack 1 that I could not use that patch? What can I do? I need to use standby and it makes me angry that I can't. Is there another patch? I am puzzled.

Hi Pat,

If you have SP1 installed, that patch is irrelevent, as you will already
have higher versions of those files. Besides, that patch is specific to just
those screensaver problems. Loss of standby is usually caused by the
installation of a system device driver that does not support it properly.
This may have been a stand-alone driver update, or been part of a program
you installed, or from some hardware you added. This is where you should
start.
