Downloading Standby Error Patch

Bruce

I am trying to download "Windows XP Patch Direct Based Screen Saver
Hibernate/Standby Error" to solve the problem of the system not going into
standby mode when running a 3D screen saver. When I try to download, I get
this message: "Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of the
system installed is newer than the update you are applying to it. You can
only install this update with no service packs installed"
Should I go to "add/remove hardware" first and remove the current hotfixes
and then download this patch? I'm confused.
Thanks,
Bruce

The error message indicates that the patch you are applying is included or superceded by a fix in the Service Pack. If you were to remove the current Service Pack and apply the patch, then install the Service Pack, you would end up right back where you are now.
