Standby Mode for shutdown of computer

I use my computer every day,,,I was wondering if I can just put computer in
standby mode when I want to shut down computer instead of turning computer
completely off every time....this would cut down on boot up time(don't have
to open up Windows operation system every time),,,
If I could do this,,is it okay to do this everytime(I use my machine
everyday),,,.or,..do I need to shut down completely every time to be
safe...please respond with any comments or suggessions....
