Standby button greyed out after cloning HDD.

Hi there

I have XP Pro SP2 on a 20 Gb HDD and I used Acronis True Image to clone the
drive to an 80 Gb drive. True Image creates the partitions proportionally on
the destination drive from the source drive.
Unplugged the drive, changed the jumper setting to master and it booted
perfectly to a desktop with all settings and programs intact.

One minor problem (no biggie) though. My Standby button is greyed out. The
Standby / Hibernate feature is missing from Power Options in Control Panel
as well. It's definitely enabled in the BIOS and to be sure I plugged in the
old drive and checked it and it's enabled and available?

There are no exclamation marks in Device Manager. I have the latest
motherboard chipset drivers and I've un-installed the video drivers and
re-installed using WHQL drivers and none of it has made any difference. The
registry settings for Power Heuristics are correctly enabled.
This one has got me stumped :-(

Any suggestions please.

Cheers

try this:
start menu,
control panel,
power options
click on the hibernate tab when the Power Options Properties window pops up
ensure Enable Hibernation is checked

Also ensure you have more free spaces than disk space required to hibernate.
If you have added memory and there is not enough free space, hibernation
will not work either. In that case, free up space, disable hibernation,
reboot, enable again. reboot

that will usually fix the problem
good luck

Hi there
If you read my OP you will see that I don't have the Hibernate Tab available
and the Standby options below Turn off Monitor and Turn off Hard Disk is
missing as well. Any other suggestions anyone?
Thanks
Cheers
