Standby greyed-out

P. A. Jaitin

The HD in my laptop crashed. After reloading XP and other applications, the
standby button is greyed out and there is no hybernation option. The
Standby mode was available before the crash. I tried all power management
modes but it's all the same. Any knwoledge on this problem?

Thank you.

Rick: thanks, I had read that article. It says to check whether power
options is run by the BIOS or by XP. Do you know how to do this?

Yes, check the system BIOS by entering setup at boot. Usually this is
indicated on the startup screen as a key or key combination.
