"Standard PC" and power off

Hello,
my XP computer, configured as non-acpi
(cause I thought it would make analog video capture
perform better - less dropped frames. At least all
the devices have their own IRQ - but I digress)

When I shutdown, XP produces a screen that says it's safe
to turn off the PC now, and I have to use the power switch to
do so. There is no APM tab in the power options in control
panel.

I have another PC with Win2k, also configured as "standard PC",
but that one has APM TAB in the power option, and it
shut's down by itself.

Why these two different cofigs? Something to do with the way
the BIOS is setup? Differences between win2k and XP?

Thanks,
Dave

Yes, it has to do with the motherboards. Go into the BIOS on your
motherboard and see what the power management settings are. You may not
have a choice and will just have to push the power button on your
machine to shut it off.
