SSD question

A buddy of mine was stupid and powered down his system by just holding in
the switch instead of shutting down windows... now the system won't
recognize his SSD. Windows won't format it. Linux won't. Killdisk won't
write to it. BIOS sees it and it passes the SMART tests. I think it's just
dead... but is there anything else I can try?

Boot from a Windows install disk, to into Repair (I forget the steps to
get into this), and repair the MBR (master boot record). It's quite
likely you can recover the entire SSD.
