spyware

I recently got my computer back from the shop because I could not get it to boot
(even in safe mode not do a recovery). The shop got it to boot up in safe mode
after a few attempts, they told me it was spyware conflicting that kept it from
booting with Active X which they clean up.

I do have a spyware program that I use to update about once a week, so some
probably crept in. My question is, Is there a web site that I can get info on
this? Just in case it happens again I will know what to do.

Thanks

Alec

You cannot find any newsgroups containing "spyware" in their name (for their
topic)? If not, stop using Microsoft's news server and use the one provided
by your ISP, if they have one.

You don't know what is the name of whatever is the anti-spyware product that
you use? Obviously we cannot tell you about it because you never mentioned
its name.

That anti-spyware software doesn't have a web site? They don't have
newsgroups or forums available on that web site? No help, FAQs, or other
useful info at that web site, either?

Unable to Google search on "spyware"? LOTS of helpful web sites are listed
in a search on Google. No point in me just listing a bunch of URLs for them
that you can easily find yourself.

The main thing is to get a good spyware cleaner, or preferably two of
them, and make sure that update and use *both* of them once a week
without fail.

For good information about Spyware and the resources available to
combat it see MVP Jim Eshelaman's web page on the subject at

Good luck
