Spybot 1.3b6 and framedyn.dll problem

Hi,

I've just downloaded & installed the new spybot but when I try to run
it I first get a "can't find framedyn.dll" message; reloading then
allows spybot to run. Anyone any idea how I can fix this? (have
uninstalled/reinstalled but no go).

Also, while trying to sort out the above problem I thought maybe I
ought to uninstall spybot 1.2 but using "Add/Remove" has no effect -
it just starts spybot 1.2 up!

Thanks in advance,

Can't help with this...my copy works OK...but I did uninstall 1.2
first.

Yes. Confusing, isn't it. You uninstall Spybot v1.2 from within the
program. File, uninstall (or something like that). That removes the
registry entries. You can then delete the folder manually.

Thanks for replying Ian and for the useful info re uninstalling - with
a bit of luck, if I uninstall 1.2 & reinstall 1.3 then my problem may
go away, I won't hold my breath though! :)

I didn't have any problems uninstalling v1.2 via Add/Remove (using
Win '98). Whenever I uninstall anything I always restart to fix up
the registry/config before installing anything else. When restarting
after uninstalling, 90% of the time Windows will advise that it is
updating the configuration, even though nothing was indicated during
the removal process.

Another hint: Try to install or uninstall in Windows "safe" setting -
there's a lot less chance of any other programs using common files.
Also allows you to reboot a lot quicker as no programs have to shut
down.

(in my instance I had to delete pointers to graphics programs which I
no longer use)
