Hiya,

I'm looking for a (free!) tell-a-friend referral service for my
website, preferably one which uses just html forms rather than
javascript.

Anyone got any suggestions please?

On my home page I have a link that opens the persons email client with
some info automatically written in. All they have to do is write the
email addresses to send to.

Is that what you mean? If so heres the code in XHTML

John,

www.Deliverent.com has a free unlimited send-to-friend service. It also
has the option to sign up subscribers for your own opt-in list at the
same time.

One of the best features in Deliverent.com is that you can use the same
send-to-friend button for your entire site. No page-by-page
configuration is necessary.

It currently generates JavaScript code, but that can be easily replaced
with a form.

Email me at (e-mail address removed) if you need help converting the
JavaScript to a form or you can contact Deliverent support from our
site.

Thanks tf76!

Since sending the original post I've started using a Bravenet
javascript service along with a preloaded email option such as you
suggest - I was amazed it worked but I didn't realize I could leave
the "To" field empty.

Thanks very much for the offer Jack!

I've currently implemented a Bravenet javascript service along with a
preloaded email option. I'ld prefer one like deliverent but I probably
won't get time to look at it til the weekend - if I have any problems
hope your offer stays open til then :)

John,

I took the liberty of taking a quick look at Bravenet and here are some
features that Deliverent has (and Bravenet doesn't)
* the actual page (HTML and all) is emailed to the recipient
* multiple recipients
* built-in secure address book (for repeat senders)
* senders can opt-into your email e-newsletter (if you have one)
* every page in your site can be recommended separately--with the same
Send-to-friend button code on every page

Remember this is all at no cost and no limits. Good luck on your
decision and feel free to contact me or Deliverent support with any
questions. The offer will always be available for you :)

Hi Jack,

It looks very good to me - thanks very much for your help!

As I said, I won't have much time 'til the weekend but I did have a
quick look at Deliverent yesterday. I'm not sure whether sending the
page is better than sending just a link (what with people being wary
of attachments and all) but it doess look like a very good service!
