Spooler Service

I am trying to install a Lexmark Z23 Printer. This is
after I had to clear a virus. I get this: Setup has
determined that the spooler service is stopped. When I
try to restart the service, I get this: Error 1075 The
dependency service does not exist or has been marked for
deletion. Can someone help me please.

The spooler service depends on the RPC service which is very important for
the correct function of your PC, if it has been removed (not even sure you
CAN remove it) then you have serious problems.

The RPC service may not have started,
services and look for the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service, check if it
is started, if not start it, then right click on it and select properties
and set it's startup to be auto.
I have just checked a machine here and the RPC services properties are
inaccessable, so if yours has stopped, and/or you can modify the properties
I would investigate the effects of your virus a bit more.

Lexmark printers are a bit of a pain to get uninstalled and reinstalled.

Disconnect the printer then do a TOTAL blitz of the printer by using the
instructions at Bruce Sanderson's website at
http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm

Pay particular attention to his special section on Lexmark printers.

After the cleanup, reboot the printer. Download a new set of printer
drivers from the Lexmark website and install them BEFORE reconnecting the
printer.... the software will tell you when to reconnect.

Hmmm......

Well, it may fix the problem and it may not, you really need to find out
what the problem is before you administer the final indignaty to your
system.

Reinstalling may fix the error for now, but if you don't know what is the
actual cause of the problem then it may well come back again.
Much better to spend the time and effort to sort it properly I believe.

I am assuming the link from Cari's post below was of no assistance?

Is there anything in the event log that relates to the print service?
If so try searching http://www.eventid.net with the Event Number, you may
find some clues there.
