Sp4 Critical update patch

Thank you Microsoft!After installing the Windows update Sp4
patches/security update so that noone is able to mess up my
computer- I am now unable to use my computer! After reboot
Windows startup dialog box is there, then the screen sits
miserably blank! and goes nowhere. Good grief!What is the
solution? Iam quite saddened that I decided upon hearing
the news announcement that one should really get these
updates - that I indeed did! It keeps spurious users from
accessing my computer including me! The only question I
have is I did close all applications but my Panda anti
virus was open I believe. Now I am using a friends
computer to post this message!HELP!Help!Help! ????/

I had the same problem but the MS support folks (David
specifically) took care of me and as noted in the bulletin
it is a no charge call since it involves a security
bulletin.

Basically boot on the Win2k CD, choose repair and go to
the repair console.

CD to the patch unistall subdirectory
in my case
cd $ntuninstallkb823980$
cd spuninst

Then run
batch spuninst.bat
exit

and watch the reboot

Good luck

I'll back down to SP 3 on Monday and see if the patch
works better (or if there is an update posted)
