SP2 - What was the point?

I have XP Home SP1 computers on a secure LAN, and I installed SP2 on one of them.

The firewall is of no value because my LAN is already secure.
The popup blocker is of no value because I don't use IE.
The Security Center is of no value because I don't need the firewall or popup blocker.
It did not fix an ongoing netbeui connection problem with the box I installed it on.

Is there a plain English statement of other benefits that might justify installing SP2 on the other boxes on the LAN?

Out of 172 fixes that SP2 made, you listed 4 network-related ones that
didn't directly apply to you. Perhaps some of the other 168 non-network
fixes may be of interest to you? Then again, maybe not. Your call.

Thanks for pointing me to the plain English outline. The non routable protocol is one of the features that keeps the LAN secure. I was told of a corporate site that has two thousand XP workstations on a NetBeui LAN. NetBeui is on the SP2 CD.

Yes, just one machine, which used to work, now gives me access denied message when I try to browse a specific other machine. Whilst these two machines will not work together, they work with all others. I don't know what I changed.
