SP2 and Popup Blocker

B

Brian

I have installed SP2 and eveything seemed to work OK. I disabled the popup
blocker in IE and under Tools/ security/internet and intranet. I found that
the popup blocker popups/bar together with the sound accompanying it was
more annoying than most popups. Although I changed the settings to turn off
the sound etc., it would not go away so I disabled it altogether. I no
longer get the popup blocker when using the internet in the ordinary way,
but still get it coming up when IE is used on my machine for, say, a preview
of a web page (using Front Page 2003).

I would be greatful if anyone could tell me how to 'block the bocker'
completely!

Thanks,
Brian.

Internet Options Control Panel/IE-Tools Menu, Internet Options, Privacy
Tab, at the bottom, and Advanced settings - is this what you used?

You can turn off the IE6 Popup blocker in the Tools menu.

Q, - Thanks for your reply, - yes, I used this and also used the facility in
security settings/custom, where there is a check box to enable/disable.
However this has made no difference either. Since I posted the message in
the news group I have managed to phone Microsoft SP2 help/ support. They
checked all the settings with me but still no luck!
However they said they would investigate further and let me know if they
find the solution. If they do, I'll post it up in this newsgroup as no doubt
others will be having the same problem.

Thanks again for your response,
Cheers,
Brian.

Thanks for your reply Edward. The Popup Blocker has been turned off in the
tools menu and also several other places where it is configurable. It
doesn't, however stop it when you use IE on your local machine, only when
using the internet. That's the problem.
Thanks again for your reply.
Cheers, Brian.
