to install sp2:
1-data is backed up
2-have update and run a/v program + 3 spyware programs
3-remove/disable all protection in the Mcafee security suite such as
software firewall and reboot.
4-defrag
5-checkdisk
6-disk clean up
7-ceate restore point
8-selective startup uncheck
9-1-With pc off, turn off surge protectors + unplug 75 ohm cable
10-unplug printer, scanner + router
11- power up + install sp2
12-power off + do reverse of what ever applies to the above
**Two questions, please A-what does "enable to install" mean? and B-should
I disable autotmatic downloads during the set up process?
Thank you

UNPLUG INTERNET CONNECTION CABLE! If that's what the 75 ohm is, fine. If
not, be certain to pull the internet connection too.

A: I don't see a reference to it, so can't guess at what its context might
be. Obviously it's saying to enable something in order to install something
but I've n o idea in what context.

B: Yes, but you also need to be certain to have your modem unplugged from
the internet, too. Be certain you pull that plug.

C: Be disconnected from the 'net for ALL of that, and don't connect until
you absolutely have to.
After you install SP2 (assuming you have it on disk), you can connect to the
'net.
Before you connect to the internet, be CERTAIN to either have your OWN
firewall installed, or your AV up and running. SP2 includes a basic XP
firewall, so use that if you don't have a better one; it's basic, but plenty
capable at this point. Do NOT connect to the internet until you have a
firewall and/or antivirus running. Then, ASAP, update your anti-virus
before doing anything else.

Additionally, a defrag should be performed after disk clean-up (not
before).
