Installing Updates

We have about 50+ computers in this office and a few have been running into
problems with the updates. The shield will appear in the right corner task
bar and they will do a install and then shut down choice. When they return
the next day in the morning or after lunch it still displays 'Installing 1 of
18 (or whatever number) updates' or 'Installing please do not unplug your
computer or shut off' , we end up having to just power off and turn back on
and the computer is fine but why is this happening?? 3 users have been having
problems over and over. Help!!! whats wrong!!!
