sp2 - please help

Hi,

My wife downloaded and started to install the sp2 upgrade on her laptop last
night, anyway it was taking a while to install and she had enough so she
tried to cancel install and then done the ctrl - alt - delete.

The lap top (dell inspiron 8200) does not work now it just shows the black
screen with the cursor flashing in top left hand corner. I try and reboot
the same happens, pressing F2 goes to the setup utility but what can I do
here................

It will not start up and can't even get to do an F8

Can I do anything to get her windows xp pro working again............

If you have a disk with the operating system on it (NOT a manufacturers
Restore Disk) you can attempt a repair of the original operating system. If
this works you will have to download all the updates all over again. If you
don't have such a disk you may be able to borrow a friends. You'll need to
run the disk initially like an install. Do not use the Repair Console. You
can do a little research about it on Google.com. I've done it after similar
problems and I was able to recover all my files. After completing the
process the computer was just like it was before the problem. Good luck.
