SP2, norton autoprotect not enabled, computer slow loading

I've tried installing SP2 twice now. The first time I disabled norton
antivirus 2004. After the installation, my computer was extremeley slow. I
was also unable to enable the autoprotect of norton. I also couldn't see my
network connections. I restored my computer to an earlier date and
everything was fine. The next day I tried it again with norton enabled, but
I had the same problems. I have all the current updates for my norton
software. I've checked with gateway and they don't have any downloads that
must be installed before installing sp2. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Check your hard drive's free space. Defrag.

I already did that.

Also check for spyware and adware before installing.
Disconnect printer, cameras and all other things before
installing SP2. I even went so far as uninstalling my
printer and web cam and after SP2 was going smooth, I
reinstalled both. All working well after doing all the
steps.

NAV 2004 is inherently invasive and sluggish and brings MS Office products
to its knees. This complaint should be aimed at Symantec.....good luck
contacting them.

windows update doesn't work as well
