SP2 IE6 popup blocker

Is there any situation in which a popup is blocked but Information Bar
or Status Bar icon not becoming visible?

The popup blocker works most of the time, but on certain sites (e.g.,
www.pcmag.com or www.pcworld.com) I can hear a popup blocker sound
alert, but no Information Bar or Status Bar icon to alert me to a block.

Thanks Silj, but at what am I supposed to be looking? My popup blocker
setup is identical to what's shown on the page.

Like I said, it works most of the time and the Information Bar presents
itself, but sometimes it doesn't - I can only hear the popup blocker
sound event.

Neither of those sites trigger the popup blocker for me at all.

For what its worth, I am seeing what you experience (the popup blocker
sound) with no information bar or status bar icon. This is some sort of
misdetection on the part of XP SP2 which I have not been able to track down.
I can tell you with complete certainty that it is a misdiagnosis because it
happens for my own site, and I can tell you without a doubt that my home
page does *not* have any popup windows on load - in fact, none of my pages
load a popup window, except for when a user clicks a link to a FAQ.

Interesting you should mention that you were also getting these false
detection on your site because it didn't happen when I visited it just
now : )
