Popup Blocker

After installing XP Service Pack II, the Popup blocker was enabled in IE. I
am trying to turn off the sound for the popup blocker. I unchecked the box
"to play a sound when a popup is blocked", but the sound still plays. Next, I
turned the popup blocker completely off, but the popup blocker still runs and
the sound still plays. The sound is almost as annoying as the popups, please
help.

Thanks Jan,

But the problem persists. In case you are wondering, I am not running any
other popup blocker. I have even turned the IE popub blocker off and it
still blocks popups and makes the sound.

Regarding your suggestion: I turned off the popup sound within the control
panel and still get the sound. I deleted the popup sound entry in the
registry and still get the sound. I even went so far as to delete the
default popup sound in the registry and still get the sound.

Any other ideas out there?

Hi Stevan2020 :)

OK.....first......what type of sound it is? A whoosh, popping, or clicking
sound? Perhaps a 'plop', or sound like water dripping?

Second...do you have Zone Alarm Pro? If so, I understand Pest Patrol is
bundled along with it.

Let me know what it is you are hearing, then we can narrow it down from
there.

Thanks Jan,

The sound was a watery "ploop" and you were correct, Pest Patrols'
CookiePatrol was the culprit. It had nothing to do with IE at all. I turned
off the sound in CookiePatrol and the annoying sound went away.
