Sound recorder poor quality

I can't get my sound recorder working right. The recorded wav file sounds
scratchy and garbled. I have WinXP, SB Live, just installed ATI All in
Wonder Pro 9000 Video card with TV Tuner. Any clues?
 
Check for updates/drivers for your soundcard. It sounds like that woul
be the likely place to start.
