poor playback sound quality

Since I upgraded to Media Player 9 I get poor playback
sound quality on sone recordings.
When playing a cd from the drive, sound is ok but when
music is copied to media library and played back from
there sound quality on some recordings is aweful.
Why?

Like the other said but a little bit more...
If you want to get CD quality sound make sure you set your
bps to at least 128bps for top quality sound. If you're
recording from another recording the one you're recording
may have been originally recorded at a lesser bps. My
recorder will record all the way down to 8bps... you can
imagine hearing music recorded at that rate... yech!!! it
would sound like screams of terror.
