Sound Issues

Matt Minton

I was listening to my headphones last night, and when I
took them out, the whole headphone jack came out of the
side of the computer with it. Unfortunately, I believe my
computer still thinks the headphones are still in the
jack, and therefore won't play through my speakers (Which
are installed on the keyboard part of my laptop). Is
there someway I can manually turn off the headphones from
playing (because, again, the computer still thinks they
are in even though they aren't), or to get my speakers to
come on anyway?

Thanks

Matt

You have a mechanical malfunction, not a system malfunction. If you have a
friend that has a soldering iron/gun/tool he/she may be able to repair the
problem. Your other recourse would be to go to BestBuy, CircuitCity or Radio
Shack and buy another sound card. Taking your PC to a repair shop will cost
more than replacing the sounccard.
BTW: eBay starts soundcards for bid at $1.00
