MM2.0 works with 1394 DV cameras and doesn't have any explicit support for
other 1394 digital media converters, like the DVMC-DA2.
When you get the "No Tape" message, MM2.0 complaining that your DVMC-DA2
told us that it's in VCR mode and that it has DV transport controls, but
that the DVMC-DA2 doesn't have a tape (like a camera).
I've got a DVMC-DA2 on my desk, and from what I can see, there's no way to
put this device in "Live" Mode (as opposed to "VCR" mode), which would
normally be the workaround.
If you want to capture using this device, you are probably going to need to
use the SONY-provided software (I think it's called DVGate Motion). After
the video is captured, you should be able to bring it into MM2.0 and edit
it.

I have a Sony DMCV DA-2 external firewire converter
connected to a Panasonic SVHS VCR. Movie Maker II thinks
it is a digital camcorder without a tape in it, so it won't
capture anything. Any help would be appreciated.
