Something wrong with my Start menu

A

Ayush

First i noticed that there is a folder named "n" [without quotes] in
DOcuments and settings. I tried to delete it but window said this is a
system folder and cant be deleted. So that means window made that folder and
using it for something. Now, the main problem, the things available in Start
menu > All programs are only those that are in "Documents and settings\All
Users". The things that are in "Documents and settings\Ayush" are not there.
I am using the Ayush account but there is nothing in Start menu that is in
my profile folder. Why ? Please help.

But my settings are all there, like pinned items and which folders are
listed and how they are listed in Start menu and wallpaper, desktop icons.

I dont know when this started. I cant use System Restore because i deleted
the restore points today.

Ayush,

Inspect (and fix, if necessary) the shell folder paths for your profile.

Refer to the table here:

Many, many thanks. I have Tweakui but i did not notice that this can be a
case of special folders paths being incorrect. I went to Tweak Ui and there
was this:
Programs : C:\documents and settings\n\Programs
Start Menu : C:\documents and settings\n
Startup : C:\documents and settings\n\Startup

These entries were wrong. But one thing is still killing me that how this
happened ?
One more question :
Is that site yours ?

One more thing. I opened regedit and there is a subkey in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \
Explorer \ User Shell Folders \
The name of the subkey is New and in that, there are two name=data pair
that are :

NAME TYPE DATA
(Default) REG_SZ (value not set)
Desktop REG_SZ C:\Documents and settings\n

What is this ? What should i do ?

That value does not exist in my systems. Deleting it should not cause any
harm.
