some images load as small red x

I have tried numerous fixes for this, including repairing
my operating system (2000) and uninstalling and
reinstalling IE, applied all the patches and service
packs, adjusted all of my IE settings, including security
and advanced. So far nothing changes it.

I did find a couple of knowledge base articles that say to
contact MS for a fix, but when I try to contact them,
there is no dropdown option for IE.

the fixes they recommend are
mshtml.dll
and or
IE6wzd.exe

Does anyone have those files, or any idea how to fix this?

thanks for the article, but I have already tried all of
what it says, I had found it earlier in the day before I
posted to the newsgroup.
I am a systems analyst and you would think I could fix
this, but so far no deal.....
its not our firewall because an identical computer to mine
loads the pages just fine.

another user helped me on the setup board, it turned out
to be my hosts file....I had downloaded a host's file used
to block spyware and spam sites, but it was also blocking
some of the files I wanted to see, so (with help from the
url provided) I figured out how to edit the hosts file to
allow the ones I want and still keep out the rest.
