Red x won't go away

I am running xp sp2 and ie 6 sp2. I have a training program on disk with some
things saved as HTML, I am able to view the program however I get the
dreaded red x placeholder instead of images. I have done every fix that I
have seen mentioned here and been to fjsmjs.com, askbobrankin.com among other
sites. The problem still persists. I tried to reinstall and receive the
"Setup has detected a newer version..." message. I then modified the
appropriae registry key for iexplorer({89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}
as an administrator, tried to reinstall ie6 still got red x. Anyone else had
this problem? Where do I go from here?

I have viewed the disc contents on other PC's. I rule out the disk. I have
searched sites viewed sites , they all offer the same solutions.

I am not doing this online, I am viewing an HTML from a disk we made
internally. 99.99 % of users experience no difficulty viewing the program.

Something happened to ie on one machine, are there downloads of ie6 sp2
available?

I don't know how those images are supposed to be displayed, but try this...
In IE go to Tools...Internet Options...Advanced tab, Security section, check
the first box - "Allow active content from CDs to run on My Computer", click
Apply, click Okay. See if that helps.

IE 6 SP-2 only comes with WinXP SP-2.
