Hi, I have been having my computer turn off randomly
whenever using microsoft Word xp. I turned system
failure to describe the problem on the BSOD and here is
what it said:

Technical information:

***STOP: 0x0000008E (0xc0000005, 0xBF9B9A36, 0ED3C5480,
0X00000000)

***nv4_disp.dll - Address BF9B9A36 base at BF9B7000,
Datestamp 3F25a978

I think this realtes to the video card, a geforce 3 ti
200, but am not sure. I have the latest drivers and
everything but word works perfectly. Any help would be
appreciated.

It is related to your graphics card. Is your card manufactured directly by
nVidia or is it manufactured by someone else. If manufactured by someone
else, they sometimes have different drivers than than those for cards
manufactured by nVidia so you might want to check the source of your
drivers.

Second, you may want to check your motherboard for bios updates and if your
processor is using a VIA chipset be sure you have the latest updates.

Beyond that, you may have something else conflicting with the graphics card.
Place the XP CD in the drive, when the setup screen appears, select "Check
System Compatibility." The report it generates may give a clue as to the
source of the issue.

Also, open Control Panel, open Administrative Tools, open Event Viewer, look
for errors that correspond to when the blue screen occurred, double click
the error, it may refer to word but it may refer to an issue elsewhere on
your system and give a clue as to the source of the problem.
