Slow start - up

E

Ed O'Meara

When I boot up it loads quickly, until it hits
explorer.exe and then it lsows down and just takes about
two minutes for it to finish loading. Then the procedure
quickly finishes. I know it is hanging up (but not
comletely) as I opened Task Manager and watched the
processes as they load.
I recently reinstalled XP after a similar probelm - it
has been two weeks, and has started to act up again.

If you have too many folder or things on desktop just move them to any other location
change the wallpaper
Do msconfig and disable the programs running at background.
Disable the services which are not required
You can try with a new user account. It can be the error of particular user account

.
I tried most of what you suggested, but did not disable
start-up items as I was not sure which was which.

Unusal thing happening is that the Task Manager device
seems to show task multiplying. Everytime I use my
computer the number increases. There were 27 to begin
with and now there are 36. 5 are SVCHOST.exe and 2 are
USRMLNKA.exe.
