Are you running an original version of a virus scanner?
I had the same problem. Took me a week to figure out that uninstalling my
McAfee solved the problem. Someone here was nice enough to suggest a free
trial version of Avast virus scanner and everything is working like a dream
now.

That doesnt work for passwords with Outlok 2002 and Vista. Still wont
remember them.

!!!! ---- I think we might have a solution ---- !!!!
Here is what fixed it, drop to a command prompt and run:
netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
If the command returns this response, "Set global command failed on
IPv4 The requested operation requires elevation", then you need to do
this:
Click start (windows symbol), Accessories, right click on "Command
Prompt", then choose "Run as Administrator", then try the netsh
command (above) again.
This worked great!
