different windows user accounts same email account

I have installed Outlook 2003 SP1 on our home PC. I assumed that all family
members, using the same ISP email account but different names (ie
john@ourhouse, susan@ourhouse etc.) could have their own mailboxes and
receive only their own mail. This doesn't work - all messages just download
to whichever user happens to log in first. We all have separate windows users
accounts. How can we keep our incoming mail separate?

to their specific .pst file?

No. I can change the users email accounts to do this. Presumably I need to
create a new .pst file for each user? Once I've done that, how do I get the
emails into their inboxes?

It depends on whether you actually have separate email addresses or whether
they are really just aliases of the one username.
If you have completely separate email addresses, then they will be in the
format of (e-mail address removed) . If that is the case, just set up each mail
account with that email address. If they are actually *aliases*, then they
will be in the form of (e-mail address removed) and you will run into
problems.
If they are aliases, post back as there are a couple of workarounds that I
used to use for this.

I think they're aliases. They're in the form (e-mail address removed).
How do I take it from here?

You're in luck! They are indeed aliases but as it's Freeserve, this should
work.
Assume you have two email addresses - 1) (e-mail address removed) and
2) (e-mail address removed)
Set up either a separate mail profile for both Fred and Bill (or better
still, a separate Windows login).
Then, in fred's Outlook Profile, or Outlook in his windows login, in the box
for Username, type in (without the quotes) "fred+ourhouse.freeserve.co.uk"
and in Bill's username box, type in "bill+ourhouse.freeserve.co.uk".
This should mean that Fred only downloads email addressed to
(e-mail address removed), and that Bill only downloads email addressed
to (e-mail address removed).
there is only one downside, in that email addressed to "anything BUT fred or
bill"@ourhouse.freeserve.co.uk will not be downloaded. However, as most of
that will be SPAM (but be warned, Freeserve, for some reason only known to
themselves, send system and account messages to the generic Username
email!), you can use something like mailwasher to clear it out once a month.
I actually used this with great effect when I was with Freeserve some two
years ago.
