Slow Shutdown after Windows Updates

(This is a repeat of a previous posting from another newsgroup which may
not be as appropriate as this group.)

Lately I have been experiencing very slow shutdowns of my OS. I am told
that
it has something to do with installing Windows Updates which I have been
doing faithfully via my Automatic Update option. Is there anyway, apart from
trial and error, of identifying which particular KB Update is causing this
delayed shutdown? As an interim measure I have stopped shutting down my PC
altogether and use the Hibernate function instead. This way I avoid the long
wait for a shutdown. Is there any disadvantage in doing this?
