My step-son has his dads old computer. It is a P2, 10GB, 128mb, Windows 2000. My husbands old business network connection is still on the hard drive also I have setup the home network so his business stuff does not get messed up. My step-son of course has downloaded every imaginable Bonzai Buddy, Kazaa etc. program he can find. He uses these for I guess games etc., so I know he does not want them uninstalled. The computer is very slow for internet access and booting. Are there any suggestions on how to speed it up without removing those programs. Also, everytime I reboot the computer the folder C:/WINNT opens. I am planning on ghosting onto a larger hard drive or using PC Anywhere. What do you think will any of this help?

That's probably why it's slow. Look for spyware/adware/malware/viruses, etc.
If your son insists on using these known programs for the spread of
beasties, you will continually have this problem.

Thank you for your response. I made a mistake on my message I was thinking of using PC Relocator not PC Anywhere

- Download a spyware/adware removal tool, like Adaware from
www.lavasoftusa.com
- Also, check in the following registry key and delete entries for
applications that you do not want to start up automatically (many apps
install little tray agents and others that aren't necessary, especially if
not all the users are using all of these apps)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
