Size limitation on memo field exporting to Excel

I need to export a query and or a report into Excel. When I run either
export or analyze in Excel my memo field is truncated. Is there a way to
change the character limitation between Access and Excel? The same field
will export in its entirety to Word.

Running Access 2000 on Windows 2000.

Found the answer in the access.externaldata newsgroup. ODBC connection
works great.
