Simple MAPI & W2k

T

I have a printer driver that is supposed to generate a tif
fax file attached to an email. In W2k all I get is errors
when it tries to create the email, it works on my old
Win98se. I downloaded and installed "Windows Messaging
for Windows 2000" but that hasn't helped either. Any
ideas?

Thanx,

Did you get the latest W2k printer driver/software from the hardware
manufacturer?
Do you have Outlook configured properly on this computer?

Yes, but it isn't for any hardware, it is software only.
Do you have Outlook configured properly on this computer?

I use Outlook express, not Outlook.

Yes, but it isn't for any hardware, it is software only.

You have to have a driver for your printer - maybe it's part of the software
bundle. Make sure you're using the latest version for Windows 2000.

But the app requires MAPI? Is Outlook installed at all?

It is the latest, there is no printer--it is just a driver.

All service packs and updates have been applied.

No MS Office components of any kind have been installed on
this computer. I will not be buying Outlook to install
it. Somewhere there is an inf file or something that
migrates when upgrading from win98 to win2k but is not
present when doing a clean install of win2k. I don't know
which file I need of what settings to change. If I could
install OutLook's settings without installing Outlook
maybe the problem would be fixed too. But I don't know if
I can do that.

Thanx again,

I mean the latest W2k-compatible software & driver for the printer

I believe you'll need Outlook installed, but am not 100% sure....don't quote
me. :)
