signn-on screen

Not sure I am in the right place for the help I need but
here goes. My son has a new computer at college, he
called me today and said that when he turned on his
computer today instead of just going to the regular screen
and clicking on his name he now has a sign on screen that
shows his name and then wants a password. he has no idea
how this happened or what the password is. any
suggestions? thanks

If he never had a password then it would be nothing (just enter a CR/or
press Enter). If it does require a password then he just learned a very
valuable lesson, and may be about to learn how to do an install. It could be
a simple matter of the wizard running, resolving the network connections,
assuming he plugged it into the campus 'net.

Personally, realizing that many code-twinkies are in that environment, I
wouldn't take my laptop on campus unless it were backed up, well locked with
passwords on my account and the admin account, and ALL guest logins removed.
