Visa Logon Screen Help.... Locked out!!!!!

I have a friend who has vista installed on his new pc. The other day
he shuts down as normal and today he starts his machine back up and he
gets the standard blue login screen. He said that when he tried to
click the icon to login he was prompted for a password. He states
when he set his machine up there was not password entered. This is
the only account on the pc.

Now he can't get past the login screen because it wants a password.
Is there anyway around this?

Tell him to try just hitting Enter without entering a password.

Then someone who had access to the machine set one for him, or he enabled a
feature that requires having a password. Have him go to Safe mode by hitting
F8 when the system initially loads and selecting it from the menu. From
there logon using the default administrator account and reset his user
account's password.

New pc with Vista pre-installed - contact the vendor/manufacturer tech
support for help.

Did he try to install any new hardware or peripherals? If you try to install
a non-Vista-compatible wireless keyboard or mouse, for example, it might
react like that. Have him try disconnecting the offending device and then
reconnecting after a few minutes.

I had a similar experience with a new computer. The builder claimed that
there was no password set by them.

I wound up spending $20 for a linux program that I had to burn to a bootable
CD. This program reset the Administrator password and everything was fine
thereafter. I understand there are free programs also available. Try here:

Good looking reviews! Guess that I should have been more patient in my
search for a solution.

Thanks for the tip
