OK, I guess we're not communicating. Let me try again. I have
downloaded
the latest version of messenger. I have set up my hotmail address as a
sign
in account. When I click sign in in messenger, my computer opens
outlook.
I
do not want to change the default mail handler, so is there another way
to
click on "sign in" in messenger and not have it open up Outlook?

I didn't say that you had to. I said that the sign-in account for
Messenger
has to be a Hotmail address. You can obtain the latest version here;

Thank you for the response, but that wasn't the case on my last
computer.
Maybe messenger was an older version. The problem is that I want to
keep
Outlook as my default mail application, but don't want to use
Outlook
for
my
hotmail account. Is there a way to go directly into hotmail like
there
used
to be?

:
This happens automatically when you sign into Messenger with a
valid
Hotmail
accout. All other sign-in accounts will open the default mail
application.
Note that Messenger has its own newsgroups.

I have just gotten a new computer. I use outlook for my work
email
account,
but have previously used messenger to take me directly to hotmail
to
do
my
personal emails. I've just downloaded windows messenger and when
I
try
to
sign in it takes me to outlook. How can I sign in directly to
hotmail
with
messeger?
