Shutdown problems after installing Canon Scanner

I have just bought and installed a Canon Canoscan Lide 50 scanner. I am
running Windows XP Home SP1. Since installing the scanner, the computer
won't shut down and just sits at the "Windows is shutting down" screen until
I hold the power button in for 10 seconds to power it down. The driver is
ScanGear CS 7.1.3.1 (also tried 7.1.3.0).
Uninstalling the driver solves the problem.

Any ideas how I can have my new scanner running and shut down Windows XP
properly?

Go to Cannon's website and do a driver update search for
your scanner. Hopefully that will solve the problem.

area. You will need to search for your specific model.
