Shutdown locked PC in Domain

Hello,

I need to shutdown a locked computer with windows xp with a
non-administrator account.
The computer is in a Win 2003 AD domain.
I configured the power button in Windows to shutdown the PC when pressed -
works fine until the computer is locked.

Is there a possibility to shutdown this machine locally with user rights
even when its locked by another user? (May be there is some policy to enable
shutdown even when the machine is locked?)
Please don't recommend other software, thank you,

Shrek

Hello Shrek,

Thank you for posting.

Based on my research, there is not a built-in feature that allows a normal
user to shutdown a computer when the computer is locked by other user.

However, based on my test, if we press and hold the power button on the
machine for 4 seconds, the machine will be shutdown even it is locked by a
normal user.

You may test it on your machine to see whether it works. If you need any
more information on this issue, please feel free to post back. I am glad
to be of assistance.

Best regards,
