shut down during game

zack

I'm having a problem with a new pc. When play Nascar
racing 2003, the game shuts down and shuts down the pc.
I have talked to support at Compaq, the pc brand I have,
also the support from the game maker, I tried everything
suggested from both and I still have the problem. I use
Microsoft sidewinder force feedback wheel with the game,
and when I installed it, I got a message that said I'm
running win 2000 and this may cause the device to not
function properly, however I am running win xp and on the
box of the racing wheel it says its for win xp. After
the crash, when pc comes back up, it goes through the
sending error info to microsoft, and it brings up a page
saying "Error Caused by a Device Driver" but doesn't
have any info on which or what to do. I also uninstalled
the wheel and played with just the keyboard, but it
still shut down.
Any help would be apprecaited, thanks.

Hi Zack,

Above all, uninstall that wheel, and play the game
to see if the error still occurs. It will help greatly
in narrowing down the cause of your error.

Additionally, since you're getting an error report,
XP has an update available which will allow you
to be sent information and suggestions about the
error you sent in. You can find it at the Windows
Update site. Hopefully it'll shed some light on this. ;-)

I have this same problem with the new Zoo Tycoon complete
collection. It runs for a while and then a black screen
with DOS text comes up I hardly see anything but I
remember it says to press F8 for something. After this
screen loads for a second, it's gone and my system
restarts, and I do the same thing he did with the logging
of the error. But the thing is I have not set up any new
hardware for quite a while now. And it only happens
during Zoo Tycoon.

So I am guessing that it is not new hardware that is
causeing this problem at all. I'd just like to play my
game any info would help a bunch.

Thanks for your time,
Brian
