shell stopped unexpectedly

This is driving me insane! For the past 2 weeks,
suddenly I had a Win98 SE machine that kept crashing,
giving me a "Explorer.exe caused an invalid page fault at
module <unknown> and sometimes at module <kernel32.dll>
It would close Explorer over and over again, all my task
bar items would disappear. All randomly, not just in
Control Panel, not just opening folders, just whenever it
wanted to. I reinstalled everything I could think of and
that I found in support groups. I have no viruses, no
spyware, I uninstalled Kazaa months ago.

I went and bought XP and upgraded. STILL GETTING THE
ERROR. Only now it says "The Shell stopped unexpectedly
and Explorer was restarted." I've found TONS of other
people online that this is happening to, but no one has a
fix. What the heck is going on?

This is Explorer and not IExplorer. I have IExplorer 6x
installed. Run McAfee virus and firewall. connect via
cable. ...exhausted with this whole thing. halp.

.
I would say with great certainty you took what ever was
cause in The 98 over to the XP as for a new XP to have
such a fault, and be similiar to a fault in a 98, so they
are the same problems just one moved to a new OS. Up to
date Virus protection, different spyware removal
programs, some programs can miss what anoyher will pick
up . That is what I would try and try the 30 free trials
on some of these you are not obligated to buy.
Here are some Links to free programs that will help.
