Sharing

Hello All,

I have a sharing problem. Rather than bore you with too
many details .......... is there anyway to clear all
shares from my XP box and start over again without running
a "repair" on it?
C:\documents and settings\administrator
C:\documents and settings\~xyz

Both of these share fine, but

C:\documents and settings\"my user acct"

will not share and none of the sub folders will share.
I cannot change the share either. I am only offered the
option of private or not which doesn't make any difference
and all other options on the share window are checked
and "dulled out" unable to change it ????

I was just using a generic term for my user acct

I don't answer to sir ever. In fact I do not use titles at all. If you call me Mister I'll insist on my formal title of Master (as a lesson). I am related to people who have the formal title of Sir.

It is customery to use angle brackets to show generic information.

EG C:\D&S\<my name>\My Documents.

as inverted commas (eg, " and ') have special meaning in windows.

If your name has spaces use < my name> or if not <MyName>.

This is because what you showed is an illegal name for a folder. Inverted commas (that americans quaintly call quotes) enclose whole filename and paths sometimes.
