Sharing on windows XP

Using an IP network. 3 PC's on the same workgroup all using XP Professional
with SP2 installed. Machine 1 is able to acess and view drives on 2 & 3 but
these two PC's get an access denied error when trying to access machine 1.

I have turned off the firwall on the LAN connection. I have added the other
2 PC's as users to machine 1.

Any ideas?
