Shared Folders

Is there any way to remove the Shared documents folders that are listed in
"My Computer". File and print sharing is disabled, but it is still
appearing.

Yes. Two ways I know of.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explore

Or use TweakUI...
